How to Become a Referee

Step 1: Register as a volunteer in the National AYSO database through http://ayso120.org. “Register Now” as a Volunteer. Print a copy of your completed volunteer form, bring it with you and a photo id to your next training session.

Step 2: Register through AYSOU.org and complete the online Safe Haven class (30-45 minutes). To complete the training, go to http://aysou.org. Login with your AYSO Blue Sombrero login and password.  Under the “My Courses” tab select the “AYSO's Safe Haven Course” and select “Launch”.

Step 3: Complete the online CDC Concussion class (30-45 minutes). To complete the training, go to http://aysou.org. Login with your AYSO Blue Sombrero login and password.   Under the “My Courses” tab select the “CDC:Concussion Course” and  select “Launch” for the “Heads Up” course.

Step 4: Request a Referee Training Voucher by emailing your Division Coordinator or Regional Ref Admin at rra@ayso120.org.

Step 5: Complete the Basic Referee Online Training. To complete the training, go to http://aysou.org. Login with your AYSO Blue Sombrero log in and password. Under the "eCommerce" tab select "Referee Training" from the Categories list. Complete the order process and complete the course.  Print your certificate at the end for your records.

Step 6: You need to have Basic Referee training. Follow the prompts in AYSOU for “MY Courses” to “Instructor Lead Courses”. Continue to the Regional Referee Online Companion Course Review the referee training calendar to select your course(s), then select “Register”. The instructor will send you an email reminder a few days before the class you registered to (using the email address you entered in your Blue Sombrero profile). Attend the class you signed up for. A record of your attendance will be entered into the AYSO National database and you will be issued a referee badge upon completing the class (and passing the test). You will also be issued a uniform if you are in region 120 and do not already have one.

Online Referee Companion Training Class

Class will meet in front of the old Gym in the front Parking lot by the outdoor cafeteria. (This is the parking lot before you pass the gates to go to the solar paneled parking lot by the pool.)  The indoor cafeteria is to the right of the outdoor cafeteria.

In order to take the in person Regional Referee Online Companion Course you must bring certification of completion of AYSO Safe Haven, CDC Concussion Training and the Regional Referee online course. Go to www.aysou.org. to take the online classes. You can take the online Regional Referee Course by logging into www.aysou.org with your Blue Sombrero Log-in. Go to e-commerce and purchase the Regional Referee Course. The course is $7 or you can ask your Referee Administrator for a voucher. After purchasing the course click on "My Course" and you should be able to launch the Regional Referee Course. The course takes as little as one hour or as much as two hours to complete. You can take the course by chapters so you do not need to do all of it at once. After completing the online course you need to do one evening of in person training.

AYSO VOLUNTEER FORM- How to submit

AYSO Volunteer Form

If you have not done so, you need to create a new account on AYSO Region 120 new website. We are no longer using EAYSO.ORG. Your log in info you used for eayso.org will not work on the new site. After you have created a new account, you can follow the directions below to submit your volunteer form for the new MY2017 year. If you already have an account on the new website, you can continue below to submit your new MY2017 volunteer form.

1)You need to go to www.ayso120.org.
2)Next, you will need to click on the "LOGIN" button in the upper right corner

3)Enter your new user name and password that you created. Your eayso.org login info will not work.
After you enter your new credentials, you will need to click the "Sign In" button.

4)On the left side, click on the "VOLUNTEER" button.

5)In the upper right corner, you need to click on the "Find Volunteer Roles" button.

6)On this page,you will select all the volunteer roles you would like to volunteer for.
After you have selected all of your volunteer roles, you will need to click the green "Continue" button at the bottom.


7)From here, following the online instructions to complete your volunteer application.

AYSO's Safe Haven was developed to protect both children and volunteers. The program covers protection guidelines, safety and injury prevention as well as the important of role modeling sporting behavior and supporting the philosophies of AYSO.

CDC: Concussion Course- How to take the class


CDC: Concussion Course

By taking this free, online course and using what you learn, you will be well positioned to improve the culture of concussion. Your actions can help create a safe environment for young athletes so that they can stay healthy, active, and thrive - both on and off the playing field.

Upon completion of this training, you can print out a certificate, making it easy to show your league or school you are ready for the season.
