SKILLS, DRILLS, AND CONDITIONING NOW OPEN FOR REGISTRATION!
This is not the TRADITIONAL "Team" practice and game experience. This is a modified program that allows for social distancing requirements and safety protocols by the City of Costa Mesa.
Please login to your Sports Connect Account and pay your child's fees, NOW. We will place players on teams as they become available!! Although, this is not our traditional program, it is an opportunity to get our players outside, encourage physical activity and improve their soccer skills, while maintaining the City’s required safety protocols. Please see the attached “Return to Play” Plan that outlines all protocols and guidelines that are required. A parent/guardian must sign a release agreeing to reading and abiding by the plan, prior to your child being placed on a cohort.
We look forward to seeing the players back on the pitch. Now, let’s play!
What are we doing to make sure our players and volunteers stay safe?
• Stable groups/cohorts of 10-14 players with 2 registered volunteer coaches.
• Temperature Check and Health Questionnaire for each player before allowing player to enter.
• ONLY players and coaches are allowed to leave their car.
• Players must wear a mask to and from the field and while not actively playing.
• Coaches must always wear masks.
• Social distancing of 6 feet must be maintained and all exercises are designed to effectively take this into account.
• Required sanitizing of all equipment and surfaces before and after use.
• All players must bring their own water bottles, balls, and hand sanitizer.
What will a cohort practice look like?
• Players/coaches will be screened in their car at the turnabout by the Snack Bar.
Please see attached map with our Entrance and Exit Strategy.
• Players that pass screening will be given a “Screen” sticker. Players must wear this sticker and a mask to exit the car and walk directly to their field.
• Coaches will setup designated cones for each player 6 feet apart. Players will keep their personal items (i.e. water bottles, backpacks, balls, sanitizer) at this cone.
• Players will check into their designated cone, sanitize their ball and hands and remove their mask once they begin practice.
• Coaches will complete planned drills, grid work and exercises that keep all players at a safe distance.
• Players will sanitize all their personal items and hands and put on their masks immediately after practice.
• Players will use the gate closest to their field (with the exception of Field #3) to meet their parent in the parking lot. Please note: The turnabout by the Snack Bar is the only entrance point for ALL fields and will not be used as an exit point.
Who can participate in cohorts?
• AYSO 120 cohorts will start with a pilot program of our older players (U12 through U19 Divisions) and our EXTRA teams that currently have coaches. Once we feel all protocols are safely being implemented, we will add cohorts from younger divisions, as coaches become available and restriction lessen.
How much will this season cost?
• *National Membership Fee ($20) + Practice Fee ($35)
= $55
Credit/voucher from the Spring 2020 cannot be applied at this time.
*The AYSO Player Membership Fee is a $20 NON-REFUNDABLE fee that goes directly to the AYSO National Office. It covers insurance and other resources. It is charged once per membership year, which runs 8/1 - 7/31.
Is there going to be a Playground, Schoolyard or U6-U8 Division program?
• As of now and due to the strict City requirements, we will not be able to offer the Playground, Schoolyard or U6-U8 programs this fall because it is just too difficult to manage and maintain the social distancing requirements with our youngest players (2012-2017). Additionally, the City is not allowing parents to exit their vehicle or let alone be on the field, which we feel is not the best option for children of these age groups. These divisions will be open and made available as so as we can safely return to play.
